This Professional Certificate introduces core artificial intelligence (AI) concepts, emphasizing their relevance in nursing, including the ethical and legal implications of AI in healthcare settings and how AI can be applied to understand and address social determinants of health (SDOH). Through an examination of real-world applications of AI tools, students will challenge their traditional ways of thinking about integrating new technology and ensure adherence to ethical principles and practices related to patient safety and quality of care, health equity, and regulatory compliance.

AINP101: AI for Nursing Leaders: Transforming Nursing with Technology

This foundational course introduces core artificial intelligence (AI) concepts, emphasizing their relevance in nursing. Through an examination of real-world applications of AI tools, students will challenge their traditional ways of thinking about integrating new technology and analyze the ethical concerns that should be considered. (5 Contact Hours) 

AIHP102: AI and Social Determinants of Health in Clinical Settings

This course explores the social determinants of health and their influence on individual and population health outcomes. It also analyzes how AI can be applied to understand and address social determinants of health (SDOH), supporting professionals across healthcare fields in improving outcomes. Threaded throughout this course are guidelines and activities to build skills in prompting AI tools as well as instructions on verifying and refining AI outputs. (5 Contact Hours)  

AIHP103: Ethical and Legal Considerations for AI in Healthcare Settings

Professionals across healthcare fields will explore the ethical and legal implications of AI, ensuring responsible use in their respective practices. Interactive lessons include ethical principles and practices related to patient safety and quality of care, data privacy and security, transparency and accountability, informed consent, health equity, and regulatory compliance. (4 Contact Hours)
